From Pre-script to Distribution with Leslee Udwin
Leslee Udwin is one of the UK`s most respected, awarded and successful independent producers. Amongst her achievements are: being awarded the London Critics Producer of the Year Award; winning the “BAFTA” (British Academy Award) for best British film (East is East) and producing the highest grossing independent British-funded film to-date.
Leslee has conducted seminars at (amongst others) the National Film and Television School of the UK, the Oxford Union at Oxford university, London Film Academy, Notre Dame University USA.
During the two day programme the films East is East and West is West will be screened, and the detailed journey of making the films, step by step, from the pre-script stage through to distribution will be described, with anecdotal evidence of all the intrigue, the drama and the challenges of the Rollercoaster ride of bringing the films into the world.

- Collaborated with Mark Shivas (then Head of Drama at the BBC) on Sitting Targets a BBC Screen Two film based on Leslee’s real life struggles with Britain’s most notorious criminal landlord.
- Developed, and produced Who Bombed Birmingham? Granada TV/ HBO (starring John Hurt). This award winning TV feature is considered to have led to the release of the "Birmingham Six", after 17 years of wrongful imprisonment.
- Developed and produced East Is East, multi-award winning feature film (including BAFTA Best British Film).
- Developed and Produced the English language remake of Den Eneste Ene entitled The One And Only, romantic comedy feature film.
- Developed and Produced Mrs. Ratcliffe’s Revolution, a satiric comedy drama set behind the ‘Iron Curtain’.
- Developed and Produced West Is West, sequel to East Is East, a box-office hit in the UK (2011).
- Leslee was awarded the London Critics’ Circle Producer of the Year Award.
