Although music was Peter Suschitzky's great passion it was cinematography which became his profession.

Peter Suschitzky born and raised in London has worked as a cinematographer since the early 60’s. Besides his work with David Cronenberg (A Dangerous Method, 2011, Eastern Promises, 2007, A History of Violence, 2005, Spider, 2002, eXistenZ, 1999, Crash, 1996, M. Butterfly, 1993, Naked Lunch, 1991, Dead Ringers, 1988) many other films can be included, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, 1975, (inst. Jim Sharman), Valentino, 1977 (inst. Ken Russell), Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980 (inst. Irvin Kershner), Falling in Love, 1984 (inst. Ulu Grosbard), The Vanishing, 1993 (inst. George Sluizer), Mars Attacks!, 1996 (inst. Tim Burton), The Man in the Iron Mask, 1998 (inst. Randall Wallace).

About his work with David Cronenberg:
Stylistically, Peter chooses to operate the camera on every picture his creates with David. "The first time I met David he said to me that is the way he likes to work. I said fine, I'll do that too. I think at that time I had only operated the camera on one or two small pictures. Since then I have operated the camera on other pictures, but I don't do it as a matter of course. I prefer to do it on intimate movies – intense movies. I really prefer it because it is a part of my visual job to compose the picture. Although I could describe to an operator how to start and finish a shot, it is the part that is in-between that is totally uncontrollable. It makes me feel like the first viewer of the movie. It gives me a great thrill!" (from the Fujifilm website).
